More than any other country, Michigan United States Senate needs to confirm a strong leader for the new efforts fail. Protection Bureau is a new COP on the beat, means to stop the financial crisis that led to the mistake of our economy and continue to endanger so many in our country. What stands in the way? Politics are shameless.
Last year, Congress made protection Bureau in response to greed and deception that caused the fall of the worst economy since the Great Depression. For the first time, a single agency responsible for protecting the people who use financial products.
The only body guarding consumers. Anyone who has ever held a mortgage, take a loan, used credit cards, signed by the payday lender, depending on your credit score, or receive a call from a debt collector-nearly all of us to stand to benefit.
Candidates to lead the Protection Bureau is Richard Cordray, former Attorney General for the State of Ohio. There is no question that he’s very good quality. Even so, a group of Senators-fight for the big banks and other special interests–has been blocked Cordray’s confirmation.
Until the Senate confirms the Director, Bureau of protection is not helpless in a way that is critical. Most importantly, only the Director can place completely oversaw the nonbank financial institutions where so many rely on Michigan. These companies include private student loan company, reporting institutions, payday lenders and debt collectors credit. They also include nonbank mortgage lenders, many of whom are responsible for so many frivolous (and sometimes criminal) loans that sparked the current crisis. Until now, these companies escape federal uniform supervision.
